I typically don't read YA fiction, but when a friend of mine recommended Love & Other Great Expectations by Becky Dean, I decided to give it a shot. I did not expect a witty, laugh-out-loud, fun romance. Even those who may not care for YA will enjoy this book.
Plot Summary
After Britt Hanson finds out she can never play soccer again, she's presented with an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to win $100,000. All she has to do is accept a chaperoned, all expenses paid trip to England and complete a scavenger hunt based on literature.
She jumps into the hunt with both feet and on one of her stops meets a nerdy British guy named Luke. Since her chaperone is his cousin, she invites him to tag along with them. As they explore the UK and race against the other players, Britt is forced to face circumstances from her past and decide how she wants to live life ... and who she wants to live it with.

Personal Thoughts
Books, banter, and a British boy? Count me in! Couple that with a literature themed scavenger hung set in England and I'm hooked. Britt and Luke were such an adorable couple and while the clues for the scavenger hunt weren't all that hard, what happened at the sites were highly entertaining. Britt's energy zips on page and Luke is a quiet, sweet guy. This book make me hunt out Becky Dean's other novels (which I hope to review soon).
Notes
This book is best for teens and adults.
